After a few starts after stops, I am again thinking about thinking about how to get a book done and between some covers. A couple years into this whole thing and I have already re-thought it a few times, but I still have the artwork and all the extracurricular crap that needs to be in it, so this time it’s just the stories I need to concern myself with.
And now I have more than two hundred new stories to pick through for the collection. My first set of tales went to be edited, one by a fabulous friend, who did way more than I might have imagined, most of all by telling me I might re-write some of the pieces and have a better product. The other edit was a complete failure, (wrong editor picked, no clear instructions, and the old adage pops up, don’t let friends do shit for you for free).
But, in the meantime I’ve been re-visiting some of my stories and re-telling them, in what I think is a better, more, shall we say, “practiced” way. I don’t know if they are any good, I don’t know if I’m spinning wheels or climbing mountains, but I like writing stories and people seem to like them. I can make books pretty cheaply, so there’s not a big investment of money, though I do want a few reader type of people to read through it for me. I won’t be paying for that, I can offer exposure, though, and feel free to put out a tip jar.

Writer
I’ve had people tell me they enjoy my stories, and when it’s in a comment on Facebook it makes me feel good and encourages me. When I have some tell me they really enjoy reading my shit in person? Wow! That’s like, “take a quick breath to keep from choking on that tear moment.” And lately, I’ve had a few friends tell me those kind words. It astonishes me, and is kind of baffling. Why do people enjoy this blabber? (Was gonna say blather, but it’s different than that). But I’m glad.
Anyway, I have a plan. It involves work…and commitment, a handy plug for the computer, and a healthy Internet signal so I can stay abreast of all the news and all the quasi-rage and made up world on Facebook. It keeps me…well, it does.
This is the third or tenth time I’ve determined to “write a book.” Rest assured, I am determined. Oh! Look at that 56 Buick Special!
At least I can share the cover.
